Whether you’re headed to party it up in Ibiza or a chill out in the city of Barcelona, everyone loves a summer holiday. Getting away from the English rain and soaking up those long-awaited sun rays is what keeps us going through the rest of the year! But everyone also likes to be looking their best on holiday, which is why we have no doubt you’ll be getting your Spectrum One hair extensions
put in before you go. Because, as we all know, long hair, a bikini and a tan is the ultimate summer babe look. So, to make sure you look your best in all you summer selfies, you’re going to want to make sure you know how to look after those gorgeous new extensions before you go. Luckily, we’re here to help. We’ve put together a list of everything we think is essential for hair extensions when you go on holiday to somewhere sunny, so be sure to pay attention ladies!
Hair and Scalp SPF
You put sun cream everywhere else, but do you put it on your hair? Because you should. We don’t mean slathering some of that SPF 30 you’ve just put on your body on your extensions (please don’t do that!). No, we’re talking about buying specific products that have an SPF for your hair.
The sun can be super damaging to your extensions, drying them out, leaving them lacklustre and making dyed colour fade quickly. By using something with an SPF and UV protection, you help block the rays and keep your locks looking lush.
If you forget your SPF and your hair’s looking a little dry, or the humidity of this strange, new climate is causing some serious frizz problems, hair oil will be your saviour. It’ll re-hydrate, add shine and tame that crazy hair.
We have a few hair oils that are great for our extensions on our website
. Pop this in your suitcase and sleep easy knowing your hair and extensions are in good hands.
Holiday Heat Protect
No doubt you won’t be holding back on the hair styling while you’re away. With all those beach pics and nights out, it’s only right your hair needs to be looking perfect! It’s why you got extensions after all.
But don’t forget to protect your hair from the harmful damage of heat styling tools.
Well, you don’t have to outright avoid swimming – you are on holiday after all! But just don’t get your hair in sea water or chlorine. Both can be damaging to the health of your hair, leaving it dry and brittle and completely ruining your colour. Instead, tie your hair up into a bun on the top of your head and try not to dunk your face under the water. Or, get one of those amazing unicorn or flamingo pool floats that are all over Instagram and lounge about in the water that way. You’ll look fabulous and keep your extensions safe, so it’s a win-win!
Wet Extension Care
If you do get your extensions wet in the pool or sea, try and get in a shower as soon as you can. Thoroughly wash your hair before giving it some extra love with a leave in conditioning mask. This’ll help prevent your hair from drying out and give it the TLC it needs to stay looking flawless. You should also make sure to gently brush your extensions after. It should be easier now you’ve treated it to some deep conditioning, but still be careful to get out any tangles and knots. Use one of our hair extension appropriate brushes to ensure you don’t pull out any bonds.
No matter what, even if you’ve had one too many Mojito’s and are feeling like your bed is the only place you want to be, always make sure your extensions are dry and plaited before sleep. You may be on holiday, but that doesn’t exclude you from knots and matting!
