OLAPLEX - What You Can And Can't Use On Your Extensions

by Emily Grimshaw

Is your hair feeling a little damaged from the summer months? We feel you girl!  It’s time to give your hair some much needed TLC.

Trying to find a hair product that ACTUALLY does what it says on the bottle can be really hard work but this is where Olaplex comes to the rescue. For years now, we have stocked these little bottles of magic and we couldn’t recommend them enough to our clients and beyond.

Being honest though, the wide range of products, reviews and numbers can be a little confusing - so we’ve put together a product guide to a full Olaplex routine; outlining the transformative benefits of each product, how they work and why they should be on your beauty shelf. Let’s get started!

Olaplex No.0 Bond Builder Hair Treatment

The ultimate hair treatment; the No.0 Bond Builder! No matter how thick or damaged your hair is, this little beauty will work its magic and leave your hair feeling hydrated. If you have your hair coloured regularly, or use heat-styling tools, try and use this product every other week to encourage your hair to become stronger - and glossier too of course. Most importantly, you can also use this product on your Spectrum One Hair Extensions.

No.3 Hair Perfector

This is Olaplex’s global bestseller and it's certainly ours too! This home treatment provides a concentrated dose of their scientifically formulated blend. The treatment helps rebuild broken bonds and strengthen the hair to leave it looking and feeling both healthier and softer.

Use the treatment on damp, towel-dried hair, applying it from root to tip and then comb it through your locks. For maximum impact and healthy looking hair, leave it in for ten minutes and then wash it out with Olaplex shampoo and conditioner.

No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo

… and following on from the above, you'll definitely want to use the Bond Maintenance Shampoo. This carefully pH balanced formula nourishes and repairs any damage to leave the hair easier to manage and free from frizz and split ends.

The shampoo is suitable for all hair types, including coloured hair, proven to strengthen even more extreme damage whilst cleansing the hair and scalp from any dirt and impurities. Do NOT use this on your Spectrum One Hair Extensions, it’s a little too heavy!

No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner

Follow your shampoo with the No.5 Bond Maintenance to deeply moisturise the hair follicles and create a shinier, fuller finish. Containing the same formula as in all of their revolutionary products, the conditioner helps repair damage and makes the hair more manageable and easier to style after washing.

Apply the conditioner all over the hair, including on the scalp, then leave for three minutes to soak in before rinsing out. Again, avoid using this product if you have hair extensions.

No.7 Bonding Oil

If you’re not using oil on the ends of your extensions, now's the time to start babe! It’s crucial to use oil to keep your ends looking strong and healthy - and this little product is a miracle worker!

The highly-concentrated oil offers a final barrier of protection and repair for damaged hair before styling and provides heat protection of up to 450°. Avoid using the oil near your extension application as this can make your hair slip.

Olaplex No.8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask

The ultimate hair care product and one of our absolute favourites. Infused with patented Olaplex bond building technology, this highly concentrated reparative mask adds shine, smoothness & body while providing intense moisture to treat damaged hair. The perfect treat on those winter pamper evenings! Your extensions will love you for this.
